Dressage Saddle
How come some people don't use Saddle Pads in dressage?
I ride dressage and I was reading a story line about dressage and in one of the photos the horse just had a saddle with no pad. I've never seen this before, so what would be the reason for this? I always use a pad in dressage.

Any saddle should fit the horse without a pad. People are under the misconception that if they use pads and risers that it will make the saddle fit. They are wrong! If you have a pair of shoes that do not fit no matter what you put in that shoe it still does not fit.
The only reason I use a saddle cloth is to save me having to clean the underside of the saddle.
International competitions require saddle cloths to display the entrants country flag.
