Paddock Boots?

I need a new pair of paddock boots for a week long horse camp this summer (my current pair the sole is separating from the top). I need some good quality but inexpensive boots. I have used the Saxon Equileather boots before but they separated in less than a year. Ariats would be best but i just cant afford them. Any ideas/suggestions?

You have a few options.

As mentioned before you can certainly try an used or consignment tack shops. This would be ideal since you can usually offer a price or barter. You can also try on what you are buying and know if it will fit for sure or not.

There is the ebay option but it is risky. There is never any way of knowing if what your buying is what it is supposed to be. The item might be listed as size 8 but its really a 8.5. Someone might think the leather is good because its shiny when it could just be a poor quality that is platic-like. Or it could be moldy. But you can find steals online too. Just dont wait until the last minute to get the boots. If they are wrong then you have no time to replace them.

Another option for your boot is to just have a new sole put on. If the leather is still in Good Condition and you dont want to part, getting a new sole is your best option. Its a fraction of the cost of a new pair and you can have it done at just about any shoe repair.

You can ask around your barn to see if someone might have a pair they are going to throw out or they are ready to replace that you can still get some use out of.

You might be able to post an ad at your local tack stores saying you are looking for a used pair.

If you need them for just a week Marys tack and feed sells some that are by Tuff Rider. Its a basic entry level boot. I think they run about $50-$60. If you ride daily and plan on wearing them all over the barn it would be best to just save and invest in a good pair of boots. In the end it will save lots of money. And remember to take care and not abuse your boots and they should last alot longer.
