Half Pad
How do I make my own wither pad? aka half pad...?
Ive been looking on E-bay for half pads and they are like $60.00 does anyone have any suggestions about what type of material works best.... an experienced person would be nice to talk to.....

I have an old pony with prominent withers and backbone, and I made a special pad for him (to use between the regular Saddle Pad and the saddle) out of doubled up pieces of thick carpet padding. Since the problem was filling in the hollow spaces between the spine and the rest of his back without increasing pressure on the spine, I made a separate pad for each side then connected them with clear packing tape so I wouldn't be putting any thickness across his withers/back bone. So far I have used it as is, but I think I am going to make a cover for it so it looks better if my son rides him out in public.
