Is it normal for new brakes to make a noise?
I just purchased a used 2003 Ford Focus. The dealership installed new brakes on the front and rear, and they also put new rotors on the front. When I apply the brake, there is a noise-it's not a creak; it's more of a flapping noise. I was told that this is the sound of the rotor rubbing against the brake pad and that it will go away once everything is "broken in". Is this true?
I have NEVER done a brake job that had a "Flapping noise" when I finished. Something does not sound right. I would go back to the dealership and ask them to double check it and tell them why you are concerned.
