Cleaning leather Half Chaps...?

Okay, I just got a new pair of Ariat half chaps, and they are All Leather on the outside. I have never actually seen someone clean their leather half chaps with saddle soap (or some other type of leather conditioner)... why is that? Does it harm the half chap? I don't see why it would... do you condition your half chaps if they are leather? They were over $125 and I would like to keep them in Good Condition... considering I saved up forever to buy them.

Since they're leather, I'd imagine that you can just use regular leather cleaner and conditioner. Just take a small sponge and so very gentle circular motions with leather cleaner and you can repeat with leather conditioner. If you don't want to use leather conditioner/cleaner, you can probably use a damp cloth and gently wipe the dirt off.
