Neck sweats and shoulder guards?
OK I have 3 ? for your guys
1st- How do you use a neck sweat? People keep telling me my mare needs one
2nd- Do you think shoulder guards or sleazys are better at keeping blanket rubs down?
3rd- Can you ride with a sleazy/shoulder guard on?
Can you ride a horse with a neck sweat or only lunge?
1) You put the neck sweat on the horse (brush the neck first so it is clean). You can put a sweating agent or glycerine on the neck before putting the neck sweat on. Work the horse on the lunge. Most people then tie the horse with the sweat on for 1-2 hours. Remove the neck sweat wash or brush off the neck to get rid of the dried on sweat and goo. Done.
2) I don't like leaving sleazy's on 24/7 unsupervised. Have seen more than one horse get himself tangled up and almost strangle themselves. With a quality well-fitting blanket you really shouldn't have a problem with rubs.
3 I suppose it might be possible - but why???? Take off the sleazy, shoulder guard to ride.
