Headstall Rawhide

Neatsfoot Oil on Rawhide Headstall?

My headstall has rawhide on it, will the Neatsfoot Oil do anything bad to the rawhide?

Neatsfoot oil will soften it a little and maqy darken it some, but will preserve the leather.
