Tendon Boots
do i need to use tendon boots?
I'm going to do a small junior hunt on my pony on Sunday.He has only done one small hunt before so is quite inexperienced.Would you reccommend I use tendon boots?If so, would these ones be okay?

Do you need to, no, however since he's inexperienced it's probably a good idea. You won't need them so much for tendon support, but for protection from brushing or scratches/small injuries. I wouldn't use Open Front boots like that in a hunt situation since they don't protect the front of the horses leg and are designed to be used with jumps that fall down. I would use a boot that wraps all the way around, or a splint/galloping boot. I believe you can also use Polo Wraps so long as you stitch them or tape them so they can't come undone, but that may not be true any more.
EDIT: Like I said, I would use any boot that wraps completely around his leg. I really like the SMB boots (http://www.doversaddlery.com/professionals-choice-smb-iii-horse-boots/p/X1-0408/cn/4683/), but they can be a little fiddley to put on the first time. If you know how to use polo wraps, they're great, cheap, and easy to wash, but like I said, I would either go around your horses leg over the velcro a couple times with electrical tape. They don't offer as much protection, but you could also use Galloping Boots (http://www.doversaddlery.com/all-purpose-galloping-horse-boots/p/X1-04176/cn/4682/).
