Trail Reiner

I need some info on bosals for my horse
?
im thinking of swiching my 10 year old quarterhorse/mustang mare to a bosal. She is in a copper Tom Thumb now. She goes fine when i ride her with a lead rope and halter every now and then and i see no point of a bit if she can do that. I also live in New England and the cold makes the bit, cold and im done with putting it in my shirt haha. I ride western, just trail, and i want to know the proper fit and what is the best type any other info would be great too. I have been riding for 10 years and consider my self and experienced rider so im very light on the bit and am a strict neck reiner. Thanks a bunch.
Is ebay a good place to buy one?
Very practical ! I used to ride my foundation Appaloosa with a bosal and my Stubben Siegfried . . .
The largest diameter is where you start, not the 'pencil' ones. Don't waste your time or money on anything that has a metal core. Rawhide cover, rawhide core.
You will need a proper 'hanger' or headstall. Proper because of the throatlatch 'fiadore' (theodore) which also balances the 'heel' of the bosal, stabilizing it. The four-knot halters widely used in Natural Horsemanship mimic the bosal and it's effects. Good luck

Rawhide bosals do not cut off the airways or nostrils, mechanical hackamores can.
