I am just curious as to what most people ride in here!
My answers:
English or Western? What style? English - Dressage and Trail
Treed or Treeless? Flex tree? Treeless (I have a hard to fit pony)
Bit or Bitless? What type of bit? Both, Dr. Cooks and French Link
Shoes or Barefoot? Barefoot, easy boots for the trail
Bareback or Bareback pad? Bareback pad, I like the feel and the grip.
I ride English, now in the hunter and jumper rings, but in my youth I also did equitation and had a brief stint in the world of combined training.
My favorite saddle is my PJ Pro with a Medium Tree. It's a very roomy medium, though, and fits the majority of my horses. I have a Castelow that's a little narrower and fits the rest of them.
Every horse is different, though I favor milder bits. Most of my horses go in some type of a rubber snaffle. I have one jumper in a rubber pelham and another in a hackamore. But I tend to stay away from twists or ports or anything too severe. Most of the horses with me are so happy to have the soft rubber in their mouths, they go quieter and better than ever.
Everyone's got shoes right now. These horses are all high-performance athletes jumping big courses and competing at top shows. Some don't have the best feet naturally, but even the ones with decent feet need the extra support of shoes. I've got one jumper in wedged aluminums, another with liquid pads molded to his feet. All of my bigger jumpers also have stud-holes in their shoes so I can add studs when we show on grass.
Bareback. I don't ride this way much anymore, except on my own older jumper when we just hack through the field.
