is making the mane short to band it for a western Pleasure Show required?
i am going to a western pleasure show and i want to band my horses mane, but she has a really pretty morgan mane and i dont wanna make it short? od i have to to band it? i can band it while its long, im more asking if its required
Its not required, but it can really make a horse's neck look prettier (longer, thinner, etc) and if you horse "bobs" his head a lot, it will look better with a short mane.
There are some big trainers that have started a trend with the long manes, so you see it even at the big shows. If you like your horse's mane the way it is, make sure it lays flat and all on one side. You don't need to band it if you keep it long. If its "fluffy" looking, you might want to thin it just a bit so it lays really smooth.
